I want you to know that I get it.
In 2008 I was in a car crash, I suffered head and neck injuries and after years of continuous pain and difficulties despite being told that my injuries should have healed I had made no progress and was scared that I would never run again or be my original active self who was full of adventure and loved getting out on the trails and exploring.
Just like you, I knew I wanted to improve my fitness and be more active again while achieving my own potential. But I also knew that to do that, I would have to get back out there and that scared me to death!

I was paralyzed by the fear of exacerbating my health issues, increasing pain, and struggling so much that I didn’t know what to do for the best.
I knew I needed to start doing something different but I had so much doubt and overwhelm about getting back out there.
I knew that getting back out and getting started was what I needed to do, I needed to get where I wanted to be - but fear was keeping me from DOING it!

I felt exactly what you're feeling now at the start of my journey, and yet despite a recent diagnosis of Fibromyalgia....
I now run on average 3x a week, I do ten miles before 10 AM most Sunday mornings, along with a 10K / 5K-10K once a week. I lead a voluntary Hula Hooping session in my local park for 1 hour once a week, Monday to Friday I start my day with a half a mile walk / jog around the block with my Dog Kane followed by 15 minutes a mobility and dynamic stretching, on a weekend I sometimes take a day off or do some low intensity hula hooping, I help and support runners in my area to get started and do park runs along with volunteering.
I understand what it's like to struggle, but now I’m living the life I’ve always dreamed of conquering mountain trails, completing ultra marathons, and helping others achieve the same.
How did I get here? By facing my fears head-on and taking consistent action, I was able to harness my expertise as a nurse & health coach, becoming my own first client. I tested my knowledge on myself and achieved remarkable results that I knew I had to share.
With 26 years of experience in the NHS as a nurse and health visitor, my deep understanding of health, combined with my passion for trail running meant that fellow trail runners dealing with injuries and health challenges were naturally attracted to me and I began to help others overcome obstacles and reach their full potential.
AND now I have helped countless other runners to do the SAME as me…

Day 2: Warm-Up Routines
In this session, understand the importance of a proper warm-up, and learn injury-prevention exercises.
You'll also be guided to practice a tailored warm-up routine daily to enhance your running experience and reduce the risk of injury.
By the end of session 2 - you’ll have your very own exercise routine to ensure that you can not only get back on the trails after injury or illness - but STAY on them by preventing new injury or illness.
Day 3: Recovery & Self-Care
In this session, you'll understand the importance of rest in training, learn effective post-run stretching routines, and gain valuable nutrition tips for runners.
You'll also be guided to practice a recovery routine as your daily action.
By the end of session 3 - you’ll have your very own routine for peak performance - ensuring that you not only show back up on the trails after injury or illness - but show up even better than you ever have before.
Day 4: Building Your Run-Walk 5K Strategy
In this session, you'll be introduced to the run-walk method, learn how to customize based on your current fitness level, and discover breathing techniques for efficient running and relaxation.
You'll also be encouraged to complete a short run-walk session as part of your daily action.
By the end of session 4 - you’ll have your very own running routine that will make it easier than ever to get back on the trails after injury or illness.

FAQ
What happens if I can't attend a session live?
Every session will be recorded and a replay link will be put inside the Facebook Group - so you'll be able to catch up!
I've never been a runner is this for me?
Yes absolutely, having never been a runner I began running as part of my recovery journey, this is all about getting out and getting started too, so if you're still yet to do that - this challenge is perfect for you. 5K can be done in many ways it’s good to be creative, indoors, outdoors, walking or running, cycling or skipping, skating or skipping!
How long will we have access to the Facebook group/ replays/ resources and community for?
I will be leaving the group open with all of its contents indefinitely. I can't guarantee everything will be accessible forever as I can't control Facebook removing the group later down the line etc, but I have no plans to delete it - so you have time to catch up if you fall behind.
I've attempted to start running before but lost my consistency/ confidence with it, is this for me?
100% - experienced and beginners are encouraged to take part in the challenge. If you're needing a boost to get back to a place of consistency with getting out this challenge will also be perfect for you.
How much time will the challenge take me?
Approximately 2 hours per day including the time taken to watch the workshops.
What time are the live workshops?
All the live workshops will be held at 7:30pm UK time each day of the challenge (October 16th - 20th) and will each last for 90 minutes.
Do I have to show up online during the challenge?
You don't have to, but it will be encouraged. The point is to get the fear overcome in an environment full of support, shared experience, encouragement and accountability. If you want to become a successful, you're going to need to overcome this fear either way - it will serve you best to do it within the challenge as it is intended, however no one is going to make you.
Do I have to do the implementations?
Nope, but the more you put into this the more you get out of it. No one will make you do anything you don't want to - however the point of the challenge is to push past discomfort and fear - so you'll be encouraged to do so.
